STUDIO VISIT @ TERRI'S TOMORROW!

Hello All,
Tomorrow is the a studio visit at my place!
I'll have food a and refreshments that should be enough to call a dinner.
I am really looking forward to seeing all of you any time after 3:15.
It is very straightforward to get here.
My address and phone number have been sent to your email and posted on Moodle Forum.
The easiest way to get to the studio is to take the Broad Street line South to Ellsworth / Federal.
(3 stops from City Hall)
I am one black away from the stop, on 13th, between Federal & Ellsworth.
(closer to Federal)
See you tomorrow!

POST ARTIST STATEMENT AND BIO HERE!

Hello All,
We will have a brief crit of work for the show at the beginning of class. We will see if we can hang in room 8.
Be prepared to post your Artist Statement & BIO to the blog by class time, 03/25/14.
Please post your Artist Statements ans Bios in the comments below.
Please plan to bring fresh images for presentations.
I understand there was no opportunity to have presentations for the Lies and Truths due to Mock Interview scheduling. We will be sticking to this schedule below.
Be sure to print copies of statements for all to write comments and return to you.
During your presentation, you should also show any progress you have made on your Behance site.

Moore's BEHANCE site is now up and running!!  Here is some information about how Moore is using the BEHANCE website:http://moore.edu/admissions/bfa-admissions/admission-requirements/portfolio-requirements/behance-online-portfolios

This e-mail serves as a reminder about the new requirement for the Internship Prep/Professional Development course of requiring students to post at least one project in a Behance portfolio.
The URLs for getting to the Moore BEHANCE site are:http://portfolios.moore.edu or http://moore.edu/behance
Students can create their portfolio from the main Behance website as well, and then associate their Portfolio with the Moore Gallery. (https://www.behance.net)

ARTIST STATEMENTS: By and About Artists

Hello All,
Below are some readings and videos to think about while you continue to prepare artist statements and speak/think about art in general. We will read and discuss the content below in class over the next two weeks, 3/4 & 3/18. Spring break is March 11th, so there will be no class. Remember Tiger Strikes Asteroid member Jaime Alvarez will be coming to speak to us on 3/18 @ 4pm.
Hope you are surviving the snow... again.

WRITING / ARTIST STATEMENTS

This is a very rare instructional film from the 1960s, in which Vincent Price guides Sears Roebuck employees through his art for sale collection.

This group of readings will be discussed in our third scheduled class meeting, 2/4/14.
A thoughtful, critical response to the readings will always be due by midnight on the Monday preceding our Tuesday afternoon class. Comments should be posted in the comments section of this post by midnight, 2/3/14. Please note which readings are required and which are optional.

Week 1: WRITING
Optional:

Do you have any skills? You know, like, nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills...

Each student will make an itemized list of at least 5-10 skills that they feel confident and proficient in, also 5-10 they feel they need to learn and develop.
Please post the list in the comment section below.
Post to the blog by Monday, 2/3.

LIES and TRUTH

Want some power?

One of my favorite artists and my dear friend, Michael Macfeat produced a series of "Trading Cards."  This particular image is from a set about Lies and The Truth. More info can be found here.

Hello All,
Please click the comments link below and post Ten Lies and Three Truths about the art work you have been creating and your modus operendi. The objective here is to carefully craft these lies.  For instance, if you say, "I never use red." it is a thin, boring and poorly constructed lie. Your concocted falsehoods would be weak and transparent if we were presented with images of blue and green paintings. The objective of "lying" is to have someone believe your story! When posting your assignment, do not indicate which are T/F. The challenge will be for your audience to figure it out. Sample fabrications can be found in the comments section below. Please format your response in the same manner. (no nick-names please)

ALL students should post the Lies and Truths assignment by Midnight on Monday, 1/27. The following students will be prepared to present current images of work and 13 copies of your Lies and Truths on Tuesday, 9/6/13. Upload image folders to the desktop of class computer as soon as you get there. Be on Time! Print papers BEFORE class, not during. All students will write comments and suggestions on the "L/TR" papers and return to presenting students at the end of class. (This will be our only paper transaction. All other responses will be digital.) Presentations will be followed by a discussion about Writing Artist Statements.
